Story: Mizuho Kiln was founded in 1973 by Toyomizu Fukuda, born in 1928. Today, his daughter, Loui Fukuda, carries on the tradition, crafting each piece with care and creativity. Loui meticulously selects ingredients for her glazes, sourcing rice straws and husks from nearby organic rice fields. Her unique carving techniques allow the glaze to drip dramatically, resulting in stunning layers of color on each piece. When you examine her work closely, you’ll discover the depth and richness in the glazes. Loui’s artistry invites you to experience the beauty and intricacy of her creations—each one a testament to her passion and skill. I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do!
